SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
Help neighbors in need!

The holidays are upon us. Unfortunately, so is the ongoing government shutdown which has led to the suspension of SNAP benefits.

More than 5,000 of our community members in Cherokee and Clay counties use SNAP benefits to help feed their families. Without those benefits, the holiday season may not be so cheerful this year.

Whether or not you consider yourself a religious/spiritual person, loving our neighbors can make our world a better place for everyone. So let's show our neighbors some love!

Clay County

A drop off box for donations to Matt’s Ministry will be located in the Health Department entryway.

The drive is tentatively scheduled to run from November 1st through December 31st.

The NC Cooperative Extension of Cherokee County has also put together a Food Resource Guide that includes a list of free food distribution sites.

Cherokee County

This County-Wide Food Drive is being coordinated by our Director of Community Outreach, Marlana Baker. Key collaborators in this initiative include the Cherokee County Department of Social Services (DSS), Murphy First United Methodist Church, and our Local Food Pantries. We invite your business or organization to significantly support this food relief effort by hosting a food collection.
